Black pottery is a clay product fired in an outdoor kiln in a reducing atmosphere. Archaeologists find ceramic works fired with this technique in various countries all over the world, which suggests that this technique was very important in a certain period, connecting different cultures.
The Black Ceramics Centre was founded in 1995. Its founder is ceramist Eugenijus Paukštė. Ceramicists Ieva Paukštytė-Schinello, Eugenijus Paukštė, Eglė Zulonaitė-Paukštienė and Augustė Šinkūnienė participate in the activities of the center.
